BEET BEAUTY SALAD

This Beet Beauty Salad is a delicious and simple salad recipe that will help you to have beautiful glowing skin. It contains raw beets, carrots, apples and lemon as the main ingredients. Together they create a nutritional balance that helps to restore your body from the inside out. Beauty truly does come from within and the journey to great skin begins with a diet of clean ingredients.

Healthy skin doesn’t come from a cream or a product, as much as we wish it did. In order to have the healthy skin you desire you must eliminate all chemicals and processed ingredients from food and skincare. Also, abstaining from bad habits like smoking, eating fried foods and drinking too much alcohol definitely helps along the journey to achieving beautiful skin.

I find it concerning that many beauty products on the shelves today are filled with toxic chemicals. By using them you are harming your health. It’s impossible to have a healthy body if you are poisoning it with toxic ingredients. If you are curious to know if any of the products you are currently using are toxic then you can visit the Environment Working Group website. Just type in the ingredients or product name and it will tell you how it scores. If it scores badly then throw it away and start investing in products that use only natural ingredients.

Skin that has a healthy natural glow is the result of being healthy. You can’t trick true health, but the best part is it’s so easy to achieve just by eliminating processed foods and toxic beauty products. Then replace them with natural whole foods and organic ingredients.

Some of the healthiest recipes contain just a few ingredients like this Beet Beauty Salad. When I make this salad I use one of each ingredient per person. If I am making this salad for 4 people then my ingredients would be 4 beets, 4 apples and 4 carrots.

For the dressing, I like to keep it simple with flaxseed oil (you can substitute with extra virgin olive oil) freshly squeezed lemon juice and a sprinkle of himalayan sea salt and chopped walnuts on top.

HEALTH BENEFITS

Beetroots are full of vitamins, antioxidants and minerals. Eating beets contributes to cell protection and blood vessel health, they purify the blood and can give your skin a healthy glow. They are also rich in iron which nourishes dry skin and improves overall skin health. Beetroot also contain polyphenols and phenolic compounds, Vitamin A and Vitamin C that contribute to anti-ageing and reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

Carrots are high in vitamin C and antioxidants which boost collagen production and contribute to a healthy skin complexion. Eating carrots also helps repair skin tissue while protecting the skin from harmful radiation.

Apples are high in vitamin C which contributes to a radiant complexion. They also contain pectin a type of fibre that is a prebiotic and is great for gut health and a healthy gut equals healthy skin.

Flaxseed Oil is high in Omega 3 fatty acids which is great to help repair skin cells. Flaxseed oil can also balance skin PH and improve elasticity. You can also use this oil directly on your skin as part of a natural beauty routine to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Never heat up flaxseed oil as it is not a cooking oil and needs to be consumed raw.

Walnuts are rich in healthy fat, antioxidants and vitamins like E and B5 which help in repairing and brightening the skin. Walnuts contain fibre which is good for gut health. Eating activated walnuts that have been soaked in water for a few hours and then rinsed is easier for the body to digest.

HOW TO MAKE PURE BEAUTY SALAD

This is a simple recipe that can be prepared in 10 minutes or less. All you have to do is peel and core the apple, peel the carrots, wash the beets and then grate everything with a box grater. I use the larger slot on the grater to ensure the vegetables stay crunchy.

Once everything is grated add lemon juice and flaxseed or olive oil for the dressing. You can also eat this salad plain with no dressing at all, it’s that delicious! Then chop up some walnuts, sprinkle on top and serve!

You can eat this salad right away or you can prepare it in advance and serve it the following day. It can last in the fridge for up to three days in a sealed container.

This is a delicious salad that you can enjoy anytime, but especially great if you are on a diet or cleanse. It’s fresh and crunchy with a hint of sweetness from the apples and it’s full of antioxidants. It’s so easy to prepare and yummy that you will want to make this healthy salad all the time.
